Disastrous DIY Can Be Expensive Say Halifax Insurance

Bank holidays are a time for DIY in many homes, although the Halifax insurance division are warning people that poor DIY could make home insurance policies invalid. This really applies to electrics and plumbing, where a poorly done DIY job can cause serious problems.
These words of warning from the Halifax come after their survey found that around 30 percent of men feel they are forced to do DIY by their partners and nearly 40 percent of them do not like doing it. However nearly 50 percent of women surveyed said that they liked a man to be good at DIY around the home, seeing it as a good trait for a partner to have.
When it comes to tackling those more difficult jobs, the ones identified as potentially troublesome by Halifax insurance, a quarter of men had worked on electrical wiring, whilst 24 percent had also tried to install a kitchen. All this was done with usually no experience or qualifications, so the home insurance issue is a real one.
